Their special day was the epitome of joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments shared with their closest friends and family at our barn venue in northern Vermont. From their first look to the last dance, every element of their day reflected warmth, community, and genuine love.
A Beautiful Outdoor October Wedding Ceremony
After guests arrived from Sterling Ridge Resort, everyone made their way down to the outdoor ceremony site: our post and beam pavilion, offering both shelter and open-air charm – a hallmark of our Vermont farm wedding venue. The ceremony space was serene and simple, allowing the natural autumn beauty of northern Vermont to shine. Surrounded by sweeping views of the golden hills rolling in the distance and the quiet rustle of fall leaves, the setting was nothing short of magical.

As they posed for group shots, sweet couple portraits, and candid moments with friends and family, each moment was expertly captured by Adam Frehm of Love Buzz Photography.

Grand Entrance & First Dance Together
As the shadows grew longer and the October night grew chillier, the celebration moved inside our wedding barn. The rustic charm of our space created a warm and welcoming atmosphere as Darlene and Denise made their grand entrance and had their first dance together, an intimate and joy-filled moment that drew everyone in. As they danced under the warm glow of the barn lights, you could feel the love and ease between them. It was a truly beautiful start to an evening that only grew more vibrant.

Dancing the Night Away
After dinner was served, the barn’s dance floor came alive with energy. Supersounds DJ curated a playlist that kept everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating the newlyweds – only pausing for dessert. Sweet Simone’s Bakery from Richmond, a venue favorite, created an array of delicious desserts for guests to choose from, with the flowers on the cake matching those in Nicole’s bouquet. The combination of good music, great company, and the enchanting setting made for unforgettable memories – as did the dreamy sunset that evening.

The following day, everyone reconvened at The Barn for a wonderful Sunday brunch. A Rainy Outdoor Wedding in Vermont: Mary & Roy
As a wedding venue located in the lush, green hills of Vermont, we’ve grown accustomed to the occasional summer rain shower as well as what’s needed to successfully navigate a rainy outdoor wedding. However, last July’s wedding season was one for the record books in terms of precipitation. With rain seeming to come down in buckets each weekend, our team had to get incredibly adept at seamlessly executing “Rain Plan B” for our couples tying the knot at The Barn at Boyden Farm.
One such rainy day wedding that will forever be etched in our memories is that of Mary and Roy. Determined to have an outdoor wedding, this couple wasn’t going to let a little inclement weather put a damper on their celebration of love!
An Intimate Vow Exchange in the Rain
On the day of Mary and Roy’s wedding day, the skies promised to continue making July one of the wettest months of the summer. Thankfully, The Barn at Boyden Farm is an indoor-outdoor wedding venue, which gave Mary and Roy some much needed flexibility. Our team gave them the option of continuing on with their outdoor ceremony as planned, or to move their ceremony inside to the rustic barn. Deciding to brave the weather, Mary and Roy moved forward as planned opted to have a rainy outdoor wedding at the post and beam pavilion, as guests would still be protected by the pavilion’s roof overhead.
Before guests arrived at the pavilion from Smuggler’s Notch Resort, Mary and Roy’s first look and private vow exchange proved to be incredibly intimate and moving. Much like the gentle raindrops still falling from the sky, neither the bride nor groom had a dry eye as they exchanged promised of love and commitment.

A Rainy Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at the Pavilion
Despite the damp conditions, the post and beam pavilion was filled with a palpable energy and sense of excitement as guests began arriving. The background of misty mountains created a serene, almost otherworldly ambiance as Mary made her grand entrance down the aisle. With the sound of a light rain pitter-pattering on the pavilion’s covering adding a lyrical accent, the couple joyfully exchanged vows surrounded by their nearest and dearest – truly a fairytale Vermont wedding come to life!

Embracing the Unpredictable Beauty of Nature
Following the rainy outdoor wedding ceremony, guests were able to take advantage of the temporary weather clearing by exploring the venue grounds for creative rain-themed photo opportunities. Our rustic barn and rolling fields contrasted against the stormy skies for incredibly vivid, memorable photos courtesy of Ben Hudson Photography. As the evening settled in, the skies gifted us with one final parting treat, offering unobstructed views of a colorful summer sunset. Outside on the patio, guests sipped signature cocktails courtesy of Fluid Bar Service and enjoyed dinner.

More Raindrops at the Romantic Barn Reception
Inside, the barn had been transformed for the wedding reception into a cozy, romantic setting illuminated by glowing vintage lanterns and candles. As Mary and Roy twirled across the hardwood dance floor for their first dance as newlyweds, raindrops gently pattered on the barn’s rooftop, adding a charming natural rhythm to A House on Fire’s music. The wedding party and attendees also showcased some truly jaw-dropping moves – including a couple of backflips! Despite the rainy day, it proved to be a truly unforgettable celebration of the start of this couple’s life journey together – complete with a surprise appearance from the Palmer Lane Maple Creemee Truck.

While summer rain on a wedding day may seem like a catastrophe to some, Mary and Roy’s celebration showed that with the right attitude and a flexible indoor-outdoor venue these unplanned moments can become some of the most memorable, awe-inspiring experiences. The weather provided endless creative photography opportunities, added a romantic ambiance, and served as a reminder that real, steadfast love remains untarnished by any storm. Our staff is honored to have shared in such a special Vermont wedding day that beautifully embraced the unpredictable majesty of nature. Our heartfelt congratulations again to the newlyweds Mary and Roy!

Though June showers fell steadily, our rustic barn venue’s iconic red exterior and charm offered the perfect intimate ambiance for this loving couple’s special day.
Safe From the Rain With a Summer Barn Wedding
On trend with an exceptionally wet summer, raindrops began pattering on the barn’s roof on the day of Corey and Jack’s wedding. However, with forethought and creativity, they seamlessly transitioned their ceremony indoors to our wedding barn without missing a beat. As guests found their seats, chandeliers and string lights cast a warm glow, accentuating the wooden beams and etching a golden hue on everything inside. Blue Locket Photography was behind the lens for Corey and Jack’s wedding, beautifully capturing all the heartwarming moments and gorgeous details from their barn celebration.

Incorporating the Traditional Tea Ceremony
Before tying the knot, Corey and Jack put much thought and care into how to incorporate the traditional tea ceremony into their wedding. These revered customs celebrate the couple’s deep family ties, honor their family members, and symbolize the welcoming of the bride and groom into each others’ families. Tea was poured and presented to parents and older family members as a sign of respect as guests watched with appreciation.
After this important piece of the ceremony was complete, Corey and Jack recited personalized vows and exchanged rings underneath a beautiful floral wedding arch, custom made by one of their family members. Despite the rain outside, the newly-married couple reveled in the coziness and cherished the ability to include every member of their families in such sacred customs.

A Cozy Barn Wedding Reception
After their heartfelt wedding ceremony filled with cultural tradition, Corey and Jack continued their celebration with a cozy barn reception. Fluid Bar Service was enlisted for their stellar bar services, serving up craft cocktails and the couple’s signature drinks: “Franklin the Salty Cat” and the “VLS Maple Old Fashioned”. In addition to an abundant dessert table, Palmer Lane Maple made an appearance in their maple creemee truck, giving guests a sweet taste of Vermont.
Despite the rainy weather, the barn’s warm ambiance made for an inviting and lively party atmosphere. Corey and Jack’s infectious smiles as they danced their first dance as husband and wife set the tone for an incredibly joyful evening, and Premier Entertainment’s DJ services had the newlyweds and their guests celebrating and dancing the night away.

An Outdoor Jewish Wedding in Vermont: Dana & Jason
Early September in Vermont is a truly magical time of year, with the summer’s warmth still gracing the air as the landscape begins its gradual transformation into fall’s brilliant colors. It was on one such sunny September day that we had the honor of hosting Dana and Jason’s beautiful outdoor Jewish wedding celebration at The Barn at Boyden Farm.
Honoring Jewish Wedding Traditions
One of the most meaningful and sacred moments of Dana and Jason’s wedding day was the ceremonial signing of the ketubah. This Jewish marriage contract outlines the responsibilities and commitments the couple is making to one another. This ceremony took place inside the rustic wedding barn, with just the bridal party as an audience. Rabbi David, the officiant for the wedding ceremony, read portions of the ketubah out loud to allow the guests to understand the significance and promises contained within. Afterwards, Dana and Jason and their two witnesses took turns inking their signatures on the decorative document. The beautiful words and calligraphic designs made the ketubah a true work of art.

A Beautiful Outdoor Jewish Wedding Ceremony
As guests began arriving in shuttles from their lodging at Smuggler’s Notch Resort, there was a palpable energy of joy and excitement. The outdoor ceremony space looked absolutely breathtaking, with custom florals from Creative Muse Floral Design decorating the custom door entry way, the post and beam pavilion, and the chuppah beneath which the couple would stand. All of this was beautifully framed by sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Rabbi David led a beautiful and sacred ceremony, guiding Dana and Jason through all of the traditional Jewish wedding rituals, including sharing a sip of wine and breaking the glass.

Dinner & Dancing in the Wedding Barn
After a lively round of mazel tovs, it was time to kick off the reception in the barn. Our rustic and refined barn wedding venue space had been transformed into a distinctly New York-inspired celebration, perfectly reflecting Dana and Jason’s city roots. From the twinkling lighting to the elegant tablescape designs courtesy of Vermont Tent Company, every detail exuded sophistication and style. As the night continued on, the dance floor became alive with smiling faces celebrating the newlyweds.

Sweet Treats & Sweeter Memories
Taking a break from dancing, Dana and Jason stole away for some breathtaking photos on our picturesque farm property. The soft, golden light of the setting sun cast a romantic glow, highlighting their love and the natural beauty of the surroundings. Dana and Jason then concluded their magical night by delighting their guests with a maple creemee truck, courtesy of Palmer Lane Maple. The sweet treats added a memorable touch to an already enchanting evening, leaving everyone with a taste of Vermont’s finest flavors.

Dana and Jason’s wedding day was the perfect melding of centuries-old customs and contemporary flair, with every moment expertly captured by Blue Locket Photography and Toast Wedding Films. From their traditional Jewish ceremony to the vibrant evening celebration filled with laughter and dancing, the entire day was beautiful blend of tradition, love, and joy. We feel so grateful that our wedding venue was chosen to be a part of such a joyous occasion, and our enduring congratulations to the happy couple!
A Rustic End of September Wedding in Vermont: Emily & Sean
Emily and Sean’s end of September wedding at our farm venue was a picturesque celebration filled with rustic charm and delightful fall touches. From the heartfelt outdoor ceremony at the post and beam pavilion to the lively reception in the barn and patio, every moment was infused with love and joy. With a talented team of vendors contributing their expertise, and a stunning fall color palette of deep pine green and rich orange, the event was a seamless blend of early fall beauty, deliciousness, and unforgettable memories.
Pre-Wedding Lawn Games & Refreshments
Before the ceremony, Sean and his groomsmen shook off pre-wedding jitters with friendly lawn games, including the classic favorite, cornhole. Laughter echoed across the expansive grounds as they competed with good-natured enthusiasm, enjoying the camaraderie and excitement of the day. Meanwhile, guests indulged in refreshing beverages and delectable treats, savoring the serene ambiance and picturesque views that surrounded them. It was a time of fun and anticipation, setting the perfect tone for the heartfelt moments that awaited during Emily and Sean’s beautiful outdoor wedding celebration.

A Perfect End of September Outdoor Wedding
The scenic setting of our post and beam pavilion provided a stunning backdrop for Emily and Sean’s rustic outdoor ceremony – by far the most popular outdoor wedding location at our farm venue, and for a good reason. Surrounding the pavilion were sweeping views of crispy cornfields and mountains alight with the first hint of fall foliage: the perfect backdrop for an end of September wedding. Colorful fall florals adorned guests’ chairs and the birch tree arbor, carefully arranged by the team at Understory Farm. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement as Emily and Sean exchanged vows, with Vermont’s natural beauty adding an ethereal atmosphere to the magical and intimate moment.

Heading Inside for a Barn Wedding Reception
As the ceremony came to a close, guests eagerly made their way to the patio and into our charming barn venue which would serve as the backdrop for the evening’s festivities. The rustic ambiance of the space, with its exposed wooden beams and cozy atmosphere, immediately enveloped everyone in an inviting warmth. The tables were beautifully adorned with fall-inspired decor, adding a touch of seasonal magic that perfectly complemented the barn’s natural beauty. Centerpieces featuring rich autumnal hues and lush floral arrangements from Understory Farm added pops of color and elegance throughout the space.
One of the most unique and memorable features of the reception was the custom vintage Jeep windshield piece created by Christine Roberts Design. Adorned with the message “And so the adventure begins, Emily & Sean, September 30th 2023,” this bespoke installation served as a stunning focal point, capturing the couple’s spirit of adventure and the start of their new journey together.

An Early Fall Evening of Dinner & Dancing
Dinner was delicious, and served alongside were beverages expertly prepared by Fluid Bar Service, with Emily and Sean’s signature cocktails taking center stage: Lavender Whiskey Sours and Passion Fruit Daiquiris. In addition to the exceptional catering, the dessert offerings at Emily and Sean’s barn wedding reception were a true delight for the senses. The cake, although petite in size, was the focal point of a larger dessert spread crafted by the talented team at Sweet Vermont Treats. All treats incorporated local flavors like maple, apple, and berry, and perfectly complimented the barn’s rustic elegance with their decor.
As the evening progressed, the interior of the barn came alive with music from Get Down Tonight, turning the evening into a vibrant celebration. As the music played on, Emily and Sean slipped away for a few moments, hand-in-hand, to take a twilight stroll around our property with their photographer, Kristen Phelps. Capturing the soft, glowing light of the fading day, Kristen’s lens immortalized the newlyweds’ tender embrace and the pure, unguarded joy that radiated from them. These intimate moments, shared in the tranquility of the Vermont countryside, allowed Emily and Sean to savor the magic of the day and bask in the beauty of their new chapter together.

As the final notes of the band’s performance faded into the night, the guests were gently ushered onto waiting shuttles, which transported them back to the cozy accommodations of Smuggler’s Notch Resort. There, they could reflect on the magical evening they had just experienced, filled with heartfelt moments, delectable delights, and the infectious energy that had made Emily and Sean’s end of September wedding an unforgettable celebration of love, community, and the beauty of Vermont.
